We are sew excited to finally be able to talk about the February Bag of the Month Club sewing pattern - The Hope Handbag! In our earlier blog we looked at some of the features of our petite pretty purse. In this edition of the blog, you'll find inspiration for your sew from some of the many many marvellous makes by our team of testers!
"Hope anchors the soul." We absolutely love this amazing embroidered Hope Handbag, made by Elizabeth. And, a big thank you to Elizabeth, too, for braving the cold to take photos!
"The simplicity and aesthetic of this bag is fabulous. I adore the fact that this bag is budget friendly and that Hope has a elegant and timeless shape." ~ Nova. Nova's model has already claimed this wonderful Hope Handbag, and we totally understand why!
Anyone else feeling a bit of fabric envy? This bright and colourful Hope Handbag was made by Katherine, who told us this eyecatching fabric came from Joann's!
"Lovely looking bag, with lots of potential for customisation... It has a lovely slightly retro look and is a perfect size for carrying all that one would need in the day." ~ Zeiba. We've yet more fabric envy for Zeiba's bag! But, this gorgeous fabric was gifted to Zeiba by a family member in Senegal, so we think it might be a bit tricky to track down!
Bee hopeful, bee creative, bee happy! We think Desra's Hope Handbag is bee-autiful! And, we're not alone - one of Desra's family members has already put in an order for this petite purse!
Laura's fantastic Hope Handbag is a super example of how to use a larger print feature fabric for the outer panels! Laura told us, "[The Hope Handbag is] more spacious than I thought it’d be!" We agree! We think it's the perfect size for every day use.
"Hope is a lovely size for a carry style bag and the name is just perfect right now." ~ Lynne. Talking about feature fabrics, we think Lynne's pattern placement is perfect!
Susan had a play with the pattern pieces to create this stylish colour-blocked version of The Hope Handbag. Susan cut the Exterior Top to be the same height as the Lining Top (+ 3/8" seam allowance), then taped the cut off piece to the Exterior Bottom (+ 3/8" seam allowance at the top). Thank you for the hack idea, Susan!
Our final offering in this inspiration blog is Tracy's head turning Hope Handbag! Tracy used an Alison Glass Art Theory panel for this stunning sew! Tracy said, "I love this beautiful bag - it’s lightweight and a great size for so many things. It holds its shape and best of all it is a fun quick sew with some new skill elements."
Thank you to all our amazing testers for sharing their sews (and their comprehensive feedback!) with us! We'll be sharing more of their marvellous makes on our Facebook and Instagram pages, so please do Follow us if you don't already!
